Maternité Joyeuse

MCL-SCU-888009

This is a reproduction of a bronze from Gilbert Privat.
After a first apprenticeship in the workshop of his father who was wood-carver, Gilbert Privat went to school of Fine-Art in Toulouse then at the national School of the Fine-arts. He wins a second price of Rome in 1921. Several official rewards punctuate his career and he took part in various international exhibitions between 1925 and 1939.
The artist managed to create his style by marrying his solid traditional formation with his sensitivity. His art is noble and of a moving simplicity. It is expressed largely through his harmonious and elegant interpretation of the female body. His representations deliberately associate a mundane grace to an unpretentious sensuality.
