Pterosaurus tooth – siroccopteryx morocensis
Cenomanian, late Cretaceous, 100 million years old
Taouz, Kem Kem basin, Morocco
Pterosaurs were flying reptiles (specialised gliders) with wings formed by a membrane of skin, muscle and tissues. The wingspan of the large siroccopteryx morocensis was four to five meters and the name means “wing of the Sirocco”, referring to the warm wind that originates in the North Africa desert.
